Plumpton – Alroy

Alroy is built on land originally established as a stock reserve by Governor King in 1802. Known as the Rooty Hill Stock Farm until c1829, the reserve was a stock breeding ground which acted as a reserve against deficiency in animal food in the early years of white settlement in Australia. The early history of Alroy is unclear. It is believed that the builder may have been Thomas Bowring who was contracted by Walter Lamb to build the cannery. image
