The land on which the cottage is located was originally granted to Walter Lamb as part of a substantial grant of 3000 acres in the Plumpton area in 1871. The cottage is located on Lot 3 of Section 1 and is indicated as being present in an 1891 subdivision map of the area. The house is closely associated with Alroy, and the Cannery works established by Walter Lamb of Woodstock, that established Plumpton. It is likely to have been built c 1888 in association with the cannery works as possibly a manager’s cottage, as the brickwork displays a similar style to other contemporary buildings including Alroy. | ![]() |
