Seven Hills – Melrose

In the early 19th Century, Governor King declared approximately 9,000 acres of land as a public reserve known as “Prospect Common”. The Common was eventually broken up into a number of parcels of land, one of which was a poultry farm known as Grantham, comprising approximately 100 acres on both sides of Grantham Road. Melrose House, built circa 1890, was acquired for the Grantham Poultry stud in 1910. image
