The item is a rural cottage set back from the Castlereagh Road. The cottage is attractively sited on the rise above the Nepean River and is distinctive for its pyramidal hipped roof, large dormer, return verandah and pair of tall brick chimneys. The cottage is constructed in brick and has a symmetrical front elevation with a pair of multiple-paned (6 over 6) windows. The timber valance of the verandah and the gable of the dormer window share a decorative ribbed pattern that contributes to the overall presentation of the building. The detailing of the cottage suggests a c.1860s-1870s date of construction. The cottage is set within a garden with mature trees and against the backdrop of the Blue Mountains escarpment. | ![]() |
