Castlereagh – McCarthys Farm Archaeological remains (Demolished)

James McCarthy was granted 50ha near the Lower Nepean River in 1804. The slab house he built at this time, was extended and altered in various stages over the next 160 years and throughout this period it was owned by his descendants. Other farm buildings, including a brandy house, meat house, stables and hay shed were added to the site by McCarthy and the subsequent occupants. image
