The site of Grantham Poultry Research Station (former) was originally part of the Cumberland Plain set aside for use as Prospect Common by Governor King in 1804. By 1897 the two 50 acre lots were owned by solicitor William Chadwick who built an out-of-town residence called Melrose. Francis Martin acquired the property on 30 July 1906 and called it Grantham Poultry Stud. | ![]() |
