40 Gildey Street is one of a group of three original identical cottages in Gidley Street. A rare example of an extant historic residence in St. Marys which demonstrates development in the late nineteenth century. Both no. 38 and no 42 Gidley Street share stylistic traits that are also common with neighbouring Mimosa (ie. the rendered medallion and vermiculated quoins) which suggest all three buildings share the same architect (William Sykes). | ![]() |
